The Department of Packaging and Logistics Processes has been an organizational unit within the Faculty of Commodity Science since 1981, initially as the Department of Packaging and Storage of Goods. In 1992, the Department was transformed into the Department of Packaging of Goods, which in 2024 changed its name to the Department of Packaging and Logistics Processes.

In 2020, following a change in the University’s organizational structure, the Department became a unit within the Institute of Quality Sciences and Product Management.

Until September 30, 2000, the position of Head of the Department was held by Dr Habil Marian Cichoń, Full Professor, followed by Dr Habil Małgorzata Lisińska-Kuśnierz, Full Professor, who served until September 30, 2021. Since October 1, 2021, the position of Head of the Department has been held by Dr Habil. Eng. Agnieszka Cholewa-Wójcik, Associate Professor.
